This post is brought to you by Swiffer Bissell Steamboost. As always, all opinions are 100% my own.
I can't believe 2013 is coming to a close. The year has flown by and I know next year is going to go by just as fast (if not faster) when we welcome our baby boy in April.
I have really enjoyed the holidays this year, but they are definitely a lot of work. You all know I love to bake, but with baking your bound to make a mess. As much as I try to keep the powdered sugar in the bowl, it somehow always makes its way to the floor!
So to help me clean up the mess I made during my holiday baking this year, I had the opportunity to try out the new Swiffer BISSELL STEAMBOOST.
The Swiffer Bissell Steamboost is basically a combination of the Swiffer, which I think most everyone is familiar with and a steam cleaner. I love using steam to clean since you can get better results without harsh chemicals.
The Swiffer Bissell Steamboost took no more than 5 minutes to put together and get up and running. You just take the pieces out of the box, snap a few together, fill the chamber with water, attach the cleaning cloth and then plug into the wall. Then, in about a minute you're ready to start steam cleaning.
The machine was pretty easy to use. All you do is push the button when you want the steam to come out. Since I had a big sugary mess on my floor, I was pushing that button quite a bit. But if you're mess wasn't that big you probably only need it every few seconds or so.
One of the drawbacks of the steam mop is since you need to plug it in, you can only travel so far with the machine before you need to unplug and put into a closer outlet. My kitchen is fairly big and I still only needed to do this once, so it really wasn't a big deal. You probably want to change out the cleaning pad for a new one too if you're doing a large area.
I was pretty impressed with the Swiffer Bissell Steamboost. My floors were cleaned only a few days before my baking so I didn't think it would clean-up more than what I spilled on the floor that day. But from the photo above you can see that it also steam clean mopped away dirt and stuff that my that my other mop left behind - love that!
I'm still not sure this steam mop completely replaces some good ole' deep cleaning, but for in between those cleanings it is quick, easy and gets the job done. And I love that when I'm done I can just toss the cleaning pad in the trash and not worry about it.

I try to find an excuse to get everyone out of the house for a few hours! Then I turn on some awesome music and clean a specific room; bathroom, kitchen, family room. If people have stuff laying around I put it into piles so that when they get back they can take it to their rooms!
ReplyDeleteI wait til night time when my son is asleep before I attempt to clean.....I can get more done that way
ReplyDeleteMy tip is to keep a basket downstairs for all the kid's stuff that ends up on my lower level and bring it upstairs filled with their things at the end of the day. It makes vacuuming and cleaning the floors easier in the morning.

My husband does most of the cleaning. I pick up and he follows cleaning. I'm so lucky! This would help in the kitchen though!
ReplyDeleteI get my husband to help with cleaning during the holidays. As long as I "pay" him with cookies, he doesn't mind helping out :)
ReplyDeleteClean at night when the kids are asleep. I also create a list to keep me on track.
ReplyDeleteMy trick is to use baskets.... I throw all the kids toys in pretty baskets in a pinch. Then, each kid takes the basket to their room and empties it later. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI'm spoiled in that my husband cooks, cleans and does the laundry. A list keeps track of what needs cleaning and when. Thank goodness for lists.
ReplyDeleteI try to clean when my baby is napping even though a lot of times I just feel like resting when she naps!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I am just too tired to clean up in the evenings, so I tell myself that I have to do "25" or "50" or "37
ReplyDeletethings before I can go to bed. The counting seems to make it go by quickly!
I try to clean up before going to bed so that I do not have to wake up to a mess in the morning
ReplyDeleteMy trick is to just clean as you go. If I am in a room already, I'll try to clean up a bit while I am in there. It helps to make it not as overwhelming. Thanks for the giveaway! DamianMom at yahoo dot com
ReplyDeleteI try to wash the bowl, pans, etc I'm cooking and baking with as I go along
ReplyDeleteI would love this, i just replaced all my carpet with tile
ReplyDeleteI try to put things straight into the dishwasher as I dirty them - I hate seeing dirty dishes in the sink!
ReplyDeleteset up as much the day before and clean up that night!
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI "try" to pick up as I go along the day.
I heard a trick once: always attempt to keep your house "guest ready", where you'd only need about 5-15 minutes to clean up, if guests were dropping by.
Helps keep it from getting out of control with mountains of laundry and dishes
I try not to let it build up, but I usually fail : )
ReplyDeleteI really have to clean up after myself as I go or it just snowballs!
ReplyDeleteMy trick is consistency - clean the bathroom every AM, have kids pick up their toys before bed, etc. :)
ReplyDeleteMy tip - when you take something out put it back where it came from when you're done with it, Keeps things neater.
